I finally made it and so the adventure begins!

I am in Lebanon at last! =) Sorry for the delay in updates, but I will now begin posting pictures and writing about my experiences here in Lebanon.

I have now been here about 2 weeks, and have already started working. I am teaching at an American language center here in Lebanon. It has been really fun getting to teach and know more people here in Lebanon. I have even learned to take my own transportation to work, known as a van which is similar to a taxi. You just stand on the side of the road and wait for one to stop! So every morning I venture out on my own and wave down a van to make my way to the center. I have somehow learned enough Arabic to get myself to the center! And also to get my way back. But I have met some wonderful people at the center, students and other teachers who many times give me a ride home and then I don't need the vans! And let me tell you the driving here is absolutely crazy, as if each car has its own road and there is no one else on the road! And I get laughed at when I automatically reach for the seat belt in the car. Apparently in Lebanon seat belts are not necessary! And many times one way roads are really two way.....this probably isn't the safest way to drive.

I also got the opportunity to travel to the North of Lebanon last weekend, and who knew you would find snow in June! But yes there is snow in Lebanon even in the summer! We drove to the highest point of Lebanon in the mountains and traveled to several different places, absolutely stunning. I will try to post some pictures. Well that's all for now, I will try to update as much as I can!
